Outreach Project to Slum Communities

For more than 25 years—long before the official opening of the Queen Sirikit Center for Breast Cancer (QSCBC)—the "Slum Project" has been a pillar of hope. Initiated by

Dr. Kris Chatamra, Head of the QSCBC, and Khunying Finola Chatamra, Honorary Advisor,

this project is fueled by the dedicated collaboration of medical teams, nurses, staff, volunteers, and generous supporters from both individuals and organizations.

Driven by strong faith and commitment, we have worked tirelessly to provide underprivileged women in various slum communities with equal access to breast

and cervical cancer screenings. Our process involves working closely with a network

of partners, including local community leaders. Therefore, donors can be fully confident that every contribution to the Queen Sirikit Center for Breast Cancer will be used effectively to provide aid that truly reaches our target groups and fulfills our objectives.

Our Two-Week Community Outreach Program

Week 1: Community Assessment and Education Our medical team, nurses, and staff, alongside social workers, visit the communities to assess living conditions and basic needs. We then host educational sessions on breast and cervical cancer for both teenagers and adults. During this visit, we register women aged 40 and older for comprehensive screenings scheduled for the following week.

Week 2: Comprehensive Screening Day We provide transportation for 80–100 women from the communities to undergo detailed screenings using Mammograms and Ultrasounds. To ensure these women can receive care without worry or anxiety,

the QSCBC organizes a full-day event. While our medical teams provide full-capacity screening services, our volunteers host creative and engaging activities for the children who accompany their mothers.

These activities are designed to spark imagination and provide new experiences for the children. Everyone involved—from the participants to the staff and volunteers—enjoys

a day filled with happiness, delicious food, snacks, and toys. This initiative creates lasting impressions and brings smiles to everyone who joins us.

The team from the Queen Sirikit Center for Breast Cancer (QSCBC) has carried out

the patient registration process within slum communities. We are supported by social workers and volunteers who assist in evaluating the eligibility of underprivileged women to ensure they qualify for the project. Furthermore, we collaborate closely with our partner networks and community leaders to guarantee that all donations are utilized

to their maximum benefit, reaching those who are truly in need.
