Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer

History

In 2001, Dr Kris Chatamra accompanied Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, on a royal working visit to Sakon Nakhon Province. During dinner graciously hosted by Her Majesty, Dr Chatamra presented his vision, stating:

Through my many years of treating breast cancer patients, I have encountered numerous problems. My goal in this country is to establish a breast cancer centre

of the highest international standard.

Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, graciously responded:

This is a wonderful project, Doctor. I want this centre to be a sanctuary for women in need.

Shortly thereafter, Her Majesty graciously donated 2 million Baht of her personal funds as seed money for the project. She further raised additional funds by organizing and personally presiding over a charity fashion show. Her Majesty also bestowed her name and royal emblem upon the center, naming it the "Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer."

On June 11, 2005, Her Majesty, accompanied by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, presided over the official opening ceremony of the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society. Subsequently, in 2007, the Centre established the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer Foundation, which Her Majesty graciously took under her Royal Patronage. The foundation serves as a channel for the public to contribute to the Center's missions, such as the procurement of advanced medical equipment.

The foundation’s initiatives include the Immunotherapy Project, the International Conferences & Seminars Project aimed at elevating breast cancer treatment standards, and the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. Furthermore, the Slum Project provides underprivileged women in congested communities with equitable access to breast and cervical cancer screenings. These efforts also extend to the expansion of Pink Park Village, which encompasses a Hospice Centre for end-stage patients, a Convalescence Centre for those undergoing treatment, a Breast Cancer Care Centre, a Learning

& Training Centre, and a Diagnostic Centre for research and diagnosis. Ultimately,

all activities and services provided at Pink Park Village are designed to provide

lasting benefits for every Thai woman.
